Schilling’s Dwarf Holly is a compact, low growing and naturally mounding shrub. This evergreen has small, dark green leaves that have a reddish cast when they are young. Clusters of small white flowers appear on the plant each spring but they tend to not be very showy. Schilling’s Dwarf Holly grows well in sun or light shade and in dry or wet soils. Dwarf Schilling’s can reach a height and width of 4 to 6 feet but are easily maintained at smaller sizes with infrequent pruning. Due to its slow growth rate, it may require a little patience to get it to the size you would like. Schilling’s Dwarf Holly is drought and salt tolerant, making it ideal for seaside plantings. It makes a great choice for low, formal hedges, foundation plantings or as a tall ground cover. Schilling’s Dwarf low maintenance requirements make it an ideal choice for residential landscapes.
