    The ā€˜Pride of Houstonā€™ Yaupon Holly is an all-female cultivar guaranteeing beautiful and plentiful red berries every season. White flowers appear in spring. Native to Florida, this medium sized shrub grows between 15-20 feet high with a width of 8-12 feet. This is a dense multi-stemmed evergreen with an upright spreading growth habit and glossy, dark green leathery leaf blades. The showy red berries are an important food source for a variety of birds. Butterflies and bees also enjoy the benefits of this shrub. Itā€™s important to note that the ā€˜Pride of Houstonā€™ is toxic to pets so location for planting should be considered if you have pets. ā€˜Pride of Houstonā€™ grows best in full sun or partial shade; is low maintenance and can tolerate hot, dry conditions as well as colder temperatures. This versatile shrub is a great choice for landscaping. Its hardiness, dense branching structure and attractive berries create eye-catching hedges, privacy screens and barriers.
