Blanchard Magnolia cultivar illuminates the landscape and is an irresistible choice with its dynamic glossy, green foliage, contrasted with stunning bronze undersides with a hint of orange. Native to Florida, D.D. Blanchard seems to be eminently proud of the undersides of its coppery hue by the way it turns its leaves for full viewing. The treeā€™s structure is usually central leader dominant with well-spaced major branching that yields a loose pyramidal form. The growth habit is adaptable to be grown full to the ground, or with a clear trunk when visibility is desired. This southern beauty stands tall with its familiar white flowers that appear for a short period of time. Birds enjoy the edible fruit the tree provides. D.D. Blanchard grows best in full sun to partial shade and is a favorite among landscape enthusiasts. Popular for its signature stature, it is an excellent choice for parkways, parks, and large open spaces.
