The Pink Muhly Grass is an easy-to-grow Florida native ornamental grass which grows in clumps reaching 2 to 3 feet high and up to 3 feet wide when mature. The stiff, upright and slender growth habit makes this noticeably different from other grasses. In fall, Muhly Grass produces fluffy pink to purple flower stalks that can reach up to 4 feet tall and give the plant a distinctive and beautiful appearance.
Pink Muhly Grass grows best when planted in full sun and can handle a variety of soil environments. Water new grass until it is established, once established the Muhly Grass is highly drought tolerant. Known for its low maintenance, plants can be cut to the ground in late winter before fall foliage appears. Grass tends to grow quickly in the spring so an application of fertilizer may be needed. Muhly Grass is a popular choice in home and commercial landscapes. It is often used in borders or in mass plantings for a stunning, drift-like effect. Due to their extreme tolerance to drought and flooding, Muhly Grass is also an excellent choice for beachfront landscapes.
